As if we are not busy enough! In pure Candace and Steph fashion (no pun intended), we decided to pull the trigger on a whole new handbag line, because why wouldn’t we? I often find the busier I am, the more I get done. I am sure that is a common feeling that you can identify with. When I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off I tend to bang out more that was even on my list of things to do that day. So, with us crazy busy filling orders for epic stores like Elyse Walker, Ron Herman, Veronica Beard and Marcus we decided to branch out and start a new collection called “Faith”.
We received a lot of emails asking us how we came up with the name “Faith” for this new collection. Anyone that knows us, knows the answer to that. Basically, if we didn’t have Faith in both our personal and professional life we would be certifiably checked into a nut farm. It is also the middle name of a very special person that encouraged us to take our brand to the next level.
She had bought a New Vintage Handbag last summer. Her husband was beyond successful in the shoe business and she has been in the fashion world her whole life. She believed we were onto something very special and graciously offered to educate us on where to start.
So, we went for it! Because that is what we do… sometimes you just need to dive in and take a chance on something you believe in. My thought is “You can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket”. She introduced us to AMAZING sources and taught us how to begin the next New Vintage chapter. I must admit, I was a bit intimidated chatting "fashion" with some of the names we were running with, but they have been nothing short of WONDERFUL. So supportive for two gals who are “newbies” to the industry. I guess I expected them to be more “Devil wears Prada”, but I could not have been more wrong.
When Candace went to India to tour the factory that would help us with our beaded designs, we knew she was right. We were onto something special that was not on the fashion map. It was a bit of a rough road with the learning curve, but so was New Vintage when we started. There is so much to learn in this industry and it is an on-going process, but we have “Faith” that it will be successful. The feedback on our new Faith Collection has been over-whelming! We are so glad we decided to dive in and go for it. Our bags ARE special, and this unchartered ground has been nothing short of exciting.
I would encourage everyone to embrace their fears as a motivation to learn. I purchased a bracelet by Little Works Project at Nordstrom’s that has the word “Fearless” on it. If you haven’t checked out Little Works Project, you should! They make the cutest bracelets with words of inspiration on them. If you have a friend that you believe needs it more than you, you gift them the bracelet. You can enter the code on the bracelet on their website and track it to see who it has helped and how far it has gone. Super cool concept and anytime I need a reminder I peek down at it.
Have a Fearless day with Faith!!!
